Massage & Migraine Headaches

More Tips coming your way…………!

Earlier I mentioned about massage, hot pads, and “question mark canes”.

I should mention that it is imperative to massage the whole body when doing a triggerpoint massage.  You can’t just massage the one place that seems to be hurting.  There’s always several involved, sometimes some very surprising ones.  I have massaged my whole body, or so I thought, and felt a whole lot better coming back from a migraine headache. But it still wouldn’t quite completely let go.  It wasn’t really a headache anymore, just a tense spot on my head where it used to be coming from. I found a tender spot in my heel on the side of my foot.  That did it.  That was the “last hang up” and the last tense spot on my head disappeared. It “popped” and let go. Those tense spots can pull you back into a headache if you don’t find them.

Also it’s easy to get excited when you feel better and overextend your limits. This can cause you to wake up with a migraine early in the morning, when you thought everything was fine when you went to bed. The more you have overextended, the earlier you will wake up with a headache.  You know it’s gonna be bad, when you wake up and hour or two after you just went to sleep. Simply realize what happened, rest and take care of yourself with the hot pad and massaging cane. Soon your limits will be past that stage, and you can tell your trigger points are disappearing, your muscles are getting softer and not as contracted and tense. Rescue Remedy also helps, but you’ll get better and better, and most of the time the triggerpoints will just massage out. A company named To Your Health has a pain creme that really works too. And it’s not smelly–that’s an added bonus.

My son calls this “shrinking”. The  Fibromyalgia cycle keeps getting smaller and smaller, and lighter and lighter.  Soon it will disappear, it will “pop” and be gone.  Just like a migraine headache!

In the meantime, you know how to get well, to really stop the cycle.  Not just cover it up with pain pills or Lyrica. Plus those give you more nasty side effects to deal with. As if you didn’t have enough already! And you know how to take care of yourself if you overextend. You are empowered! YOU CAN GET WELL! Really, truly WELL!

Additionally, if you are more active than usual, it helps to massage and/or hot pad the area you were using just in case. This works well as a preventative measure, so a headache or even just an “off day” won’t occur.

You really can take charge and change your life!  From a pain cycle right now, to no pain cycles at all!

Recovery is sweet.

As bad as I was, if I can do it, you can do it.
